Description

Raku fired ceramic on steel base. 14"x9"x6". 2006. Photograph by Eric Blackmore.

The piece has an underglase and terra siggalitta. It was then pulled from my raku kiln arround cone 05. It was fired 3 times until I was pleased with the results. wood reduction with paper/sawdust. and extra special top secret stuff. :)

Description. A couple. As couples (and people in general)we dissagree at times as to the best way to do things. The ways that we show our will is sometimes in a defiant glance, gesture or act. This does not mean that we are left without direction or commitment. We work through our difficulties and limitations bit by bit and it is not always easy, but the goals of each individual are united none the less.

The positioning of these two are both facing in the same direction or viewer. One stands before the other in a more defiant manner. The interaction between is highly subjective and I believe allows the viewer to find and identify with each-although seperatly.

By positioning them this way they are both undoubtably unified in their direction, yet each reacts individually. The ideal of a couple isn't always the "precious moment" we'd like it to be. However it is always resolute in commitment.

Passion is at times mis-diagnosed as pleasure or displeasure. To me passion is a bit more evassive and doesn't necessarily mean clairity or anything more (or less) than a deeply seated desire. The emotions that are ignited are really displays of profound desire.

Where these desires reside, how they are instigated into action, what the motives, and later what are the results -these are issues to ponder.

This particular couple was puchased by a very interesting couple from Switzerland who will give the sculptures a better home than I can provide. I hope they will enjoy them!
